How-To: Do the Snooki Pouf

This fall, the controversial MTV television show Jersey Shore really knew how to get people riled up. The characters were grouped in a North Jersey beach town for a summer with only three things in common: they were tan, loud, and Italian. Self-proclaimed “guidos” and “guidettes”, the “Jersey Shore” characters took offensive drunken behavior to a new level. As a New Jersey native and former Jersey Shore summer subletter, I can tell you I only found joy and amazement at the characters on the television show: the only people I do know who took offense are bigger guidettes and guidos than the chicks and dudes on the show.

Anyway, the beloved pint-size ball of energy with a smart mouth who stole the show is nicknamed Snooki. She copyrighted the Snooki Pouf. A pile of hair defying gravity that lifts up from the roots, unsupported, in a miraculous example of hair products gone wild, has been mimicked by everyone from guidette wannabees to well known celebrities. Join the club, and see if you’ve got the talent, nay the confidence, to pull off the Snooki Pouf.
